Valuable Information
Please read all of the following information before you book a WLE trip. If you have any questions regarding how your trip will be organized, or what is included in the services provided by WLE please do not hesitate to Contact Us.
Pricing There are many elements that contribute to the cost of any adventure vacation, including; standards of accommodation, quality of transport, number and experience of staff. We carefully balance these and many other factors when planning our trips, with the aim of providing quality adventures that represent unbeatable value. While our prices are competitive, you can be reassured that we don’t cut corners to achieve this. With WLE there are no hidden extras or local payments and in many cases our adventures are fully inclusive. See our booking conditions for more details. Data Protection We take full responsibility for ensuring that proper security measures are in place to protect your information. When you make a booking, you consent to all the information you provide being passed on to our suppliers, wherever they may be based. What is included and not included All of our trips include the following services, as described in our brochures and detailed in our trip itineraries and web site: Transportation, Accommodation, Meals (as specified), Leaders and Support Staff. Our trips do not include the following: International Flights, Local Flights (unless pointed otherwise in the itinerary), Cost of Visas, Vaccinations, Bar bills, Hotel Refreshments, Laundry, Telephone Calls, Souvenirs, etc, Meals other than those specified in our trip itinerary, Entrance Charges to some historical sites (unless pointed otherwise in the itinerary), Certain National Park Fees (unless pointed otherwise in the itinerary), Travel insurance, Personal Clothing and Personal Equipment, Foreign airport taxes, Excess baggage weigh charges. Accommodation The standard of accommodation we use can vary from excellent 4-Star hotels to high mountain refuges. We always try to choose comfortable accommodation with local character, although in some areas this may not meet Western standards and in gites or mountain huts only dormitory accommodation may be available. This is all part of the experience of an adventure trip and a flexible approach is required. Where hotel accommodation is provided, this is based on twin occupancy. If you book on your own (and 50% of our clients do) we will arrange for you to share with a person of the same sex. When camping, for the majority of our trips we supply spacious 3 man tents, for each 2 guests. A mess tent, cook's tent, toilet tent, plates, cutlery etc. are all provided.
Optional Single Rooms or Tents Where operationally possible, we are happy to provide a quote for single hotel rooms. Single tents can usually be arranged more readily but please consult the specific trip itinerary for information on availability and costs. Please note that on climbing trips single tents will not be available at high camps. Staff
All WLE groups are accompanied by a professional leader who is assisted by a local crew of guides, drivers, cooks, porters and other appropriate staff. We only appoint leaders who have consistently demonstrated that they can meet the high standards expected by us and by our clients. Some trips will have 2 or more leaders, depending on group size. Spending Money Since many of our trips include all food and accommodation, $150 - $400 taken in cash or travelers checks should adequately cover your incidental costs. Of this, on average, $30 should be set aside for airport taxes and $45-$65 for tips, leaving the remainder for items such as refreshments and souvenir hunting. If some meals are not included in the trip price, an estimate of the amount to allow for them is given in the trip itinerary. Baggage Allowances
You should make every effort to restrict your personal clothing and equipment to a maximum of 40lbs. Many of our trips involve porters, internal flights and self supported rafting expeditions. 40lbs is usually the maximum permitted allowance.
Health and Vaccinations
Ultimately it is your responsibility to ensure that you are fit enough to join a WLE adventure trip. You should also have a thorough medical and dental check up before the trip. You may need specific vaccinations when visiting some countries and this is explained in the information booklet that we send to you when you book. For recommended and compulsory health requirements for each country, please consult with your doctor or community health service. Passports A full passport is required by US citizens for all trips and it should be valid for at least six months after the completion of your trip. To secure your booking and avoid incurring additional charges, information, precisely as shown on your passport, must be given on your booking form. Visas You will need to obtain a visa for many of our trips. We will supply full details when making your booking, or on request. Generally, visa applications need to be made 2 to 3 months in advance of the trip departure date. Providing we have used our best efforts to advise you of requirements, we can not be held responsible for visa problems arising from: embassy mistakes, changes to regulations or actions by border officials that are beyond our control.

IMPORTANT WARNING This is ADVENTURE travel, and many of the trip destinations are in remote areas, within under-developed countries, where events are less predictable than is usually the case in, for example, Western Europe or North America. The unexpected is the norm in these areas and, despite painstaking planning and organization, our adventure trips can never be taken for granted like regular trips. Many of the places that we visit do not have the same quality of emergency health and safety services that we are used to in the developed world. Internal flights can be canceled, road transport is generally uncomfortable and unreliable, and hotels often do not approach the standards of the West. IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED FOR THIS, YOU SHOULD NOT TRAVEL WITH US. This unpredictability also means that the itineraries that we put forward for each of our trips should be seen as statements of intent, rather than as contractual obligations. A variety of factors, including weather, transport difficulties and political instability, might dictate that we change any itinerary. The trip leader will make any changes that are necessary, after consultation with the group. Only rarely will such changes be significant, and we will always do everything within our powers to minimize the effects of the enforced changes. We cannot be held responsible for the results of changes or delays, irrespective of how they are caused.
